There are quite a few things that go into determining the value of a home. Some of these things include the past sale prices, size, age, condition, and features of the home. Also, the current housing market and the neighborhood the home is located in affects its value. When you put your home on the market, you want it to appraise for as high of a value as possible. Your real estate agent will be able to help you with information on making improvements that raise its value. However, if your neighborhood is having a negative effect on its value, then there are some additional things you may want to do. Here are some ways you might be able to increase your neighborhood's value

Lead a Neighborhood Clean-Up Day

If your neighborhood is riddled with homes that have messy yards, then you should consider leading a clean-up day. Have fliers made to pass out to your neighbors announcing the clean-up dates. Let them know you will be renting a dumpster for the occasion, so they can clean their yards on those dates. You may even find some neighbors are willing to pitch in on the rental fee.

Take Care of Neighborhood Areas of Concern

Drive around your neighborhood looking for problems. If there is a large pothole on a street, make a call to the city to have it fixed. It's likely going to take more than one complaint, so ask your neighbors to call as well.

Convince the Neighbors to Trade Services

You may have one neighbor with a broken-down car in their yard and another who needs roof repairs. If the person with the broken car is a roofer and the one who needs roof repairs is a mechanic, then they can trade their services. You can start an online group for your neighborhood that lets people post what they need and what they can offer.

Start a Neighborhood Watch Group

You can help bring down the crime in the neighborhood by getting your neighbors involved in a neighborhood watch group. Work with the local police, and let them know what you are doing. Ask them to do more patrols through the neighborhood as well.

Turn To your Real Estate Agent

These are just some things you can do to increase the value of your neighborhood. Your real estate agent can help you to come up with more ideas because they know what things are most important when it comes to increasing the neighborhood's value. When you transform your neighborhood into a cleaner and safer one, it can help you achieve your goal of increasing your home's value.
